What a life! Norman Lear embodies television history. He informed, educated, exposed, and gave opportunities to so many legendary actors and television shows. He wrote shows that had morals and lessons in a time when everyone watched the same shows. He wrote about controversial topics, and held a mirror up to the American audience. Wow!
Lear is known for so many popular sitcoms in the 1970s, including All in the Family, Maude, Sanford and Son, One Day at a Time, The Jeffersons, and Good Times. Much of the language that was common place, you cannot get away with now.
The documentary Just Another Version of You is terrific, and gives you a real appreciation of the scope of Norman Lear's work.
