Goodbye to a Legend - Nichelle Nichols

Nichelle Nichols played Uhura in the original Star Trek from 1966-1969. She went on to help NASA with Women In Motion, a recruiting program to hire people of color and the first female astronauts in the late 1970s and 1980s.

She thought of leaving television to help Martin Luther King Jr. in the Civil Rights Movement. MLK asked her not to leave television because being in homes across the country and around the world was so important to humanizing people of color, and having someone that looked like them was priceless for young women around the world.

She is a Legend.
